Are girls brighter than boys?

Recently CBSE class XII results are out & girls as usual have outshine the boys in pass percentage. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1544008.cms

Naturally this raises a question whether girls are more smarter than boys. TOI recently conducted a poll to validate this. & guess what 60% of people do believe that it is true.

However if we look at the results deeper we see that of all students appearing in exams only 40% of students were girls rather than near 50-50 ratio.



Can this ratio have any impact on pass percentage?



I believe that this ratio tells some story. This ratio can be because of socio-economic structure of society we live in. It can be the filtering these exams do by marking students as pass-fail happens much earlier for girls. For girls if they are not good in studies then they are dropped out much earlier than boys. As a results the girls who appear for these exams are are brigther sub-set of all girls.
This I believe is the real reason for better pass percentage for them.

Studying while working

I recently realized how futile it is....ie to study while working....
First of all office work is usually 10-12 hrs which makes it very difficult to get time for studying...even if you restrict your office work (ofcourse sacrificing your performance as well...ur next review is gone!!)makes you mentally so tired that you cannot think of anything but sleep when you go to back to home...and opening a book makes u more tired...
And if you have a slight social life or home life then getting time is even more difficult...every now and then someone will want something from you and doing all those things will drain you...
Another issue is that you usually cannot disclose openly at work that you are studying because of obvious ramifications...and due to time problem you will usually won't be joining any classes (may be weekend classes..but that too are difficult...)...So most probably you are studying alone with almost zero friends with similar interest...
as a result you cannot discuss anything with anybody...you have to purchase all your materials and you don't know what is good & useful and what is not...only good thing is that since you are working you have money to purchase stuff you need...:-)...but that doesnt help because you can't purchase all the stuff..then you realize how good college days were...

So all in all it's almost impossible to study...

Morale of the story is once working concentrate on working and dont think about studying along with it...someone wise has said...having 2 legs in 2 boats will surely sink you...

My First Car - Swift

I know the title is cliche, however it's amazingly powerful. It thrills me, excites me. I had always dreamt about my first car. First car is like one of the unique lifetime experiences which are very dear and remains potent for the lifetime.

Choosing the car was really difficult..I had choice between Santro and Swift. Santro was old model and costing around 4 lakhs for everything. Swift was new, exciting model and costing 5 lakhs. Ultimately it was battle between new vs old and price perpective. And guess what Swift emerged clear winner.

I got my car on 23rd Dec...and have enjoyed it truly since then... I drove it 300kms in first 3 days..First on Christmas and then on new year car came in very handy...

Now a days it has become kind of weekend ritual to go out somewhere in car...to a friends b'day party..to celebrate something else...or just to freak out..

What's Love

Most of us regularly receive forwards on variety of topics. Most of them are spam, however some are intesting and good to read. I am trying to post few of those interesting forwards on my blog

What's love?

When you are together with that special someone, you pretend to ignore
that person. But when that special someone is not around, you might look around
to find them.
At that moment, you are in love.

Although there is someone else who always makes you laugh,
your eyes and attention might go only to that special someone.
Then, you are in love.

Although that special someone was supposed to have called you long back,
to let you know of their safe arrival,your phone is quiet.
You are desperately waiting for the call!
At that moment, you are in love.

If you are much more excited for one short e-mail from
that special someone than other many long e-mails,
you are in love.

When you find yourself as one who cannot erase all the
emails or SMS messages in your phone because of one message
from that special someone, you are in love.

When you get a couple of free movie tickets, you would
not hesitate to think of that special someone.
Then, you are in love.

You keep telling yourself, "that special someone is just a friend",but you realize that you can not avoid that person's special attraction. At that moment, you are in love.

While you are reading this mail, if someone
appears in your mind,
then u are in love with that person...;))
